Tuesday night, 9/19/23, Peter Bliss & I co-hosted the second Songwriters Night: NYC @ The Bitter End in NYC. This is a collaborative performance event between 3 orgs: The Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL), The NY Songwriters Collective (NYSC) and The Songwriters Guild of America (SGA)l.
My morning-after email to our team Wednesday 9/20:
We had another great success last night at The Bitter End. The place was, once again, packed. The performances were all terrific. Special guest performers included Larry O’Keefe, (Legally Blonde musical, Heathers, Bat Boy). He and Broadway singer/actor Charissa Hoagland, performed 2 songs from his upcoming musical. And Shelly Peiken who closed the show performing her hits, “Bitch” & “What A Girl Wants.” I’m thrilled with the success we are having, uniting & building our East Coast songwriter community. Thanks to Peter Bliss (NYSC), Charlie Sanders & Scott Porterfield (SGA), our SCL team, the staff of The Bitter End and the many songwriters, friends & family for filling this iconic room with your enthusiasm and joy!
Friday night, 9/22/23, we held a special Songwriters Circle @ Rafter's Tavern, Callicoon NY. With no rehearsal or prep, we had a lively and musically satisfying “song swap" with our songwriter pals:
Pictured below: Elizabeth Rose, Tony Penn, Lucas Mahara Rotman and Brewster Smith. Thanks to our great musical community who egged us on. The songs were so beautifully crafted and we backed each other on harmonies, guitar picking and harmonica as the night progressed. What a treat!
